This website, Trail Hiking TV (THTV) and Trail Hiking Australia (THA) represent sites and communities, developed as a hobby by me, Darren Edwards. This is not a commercial initiative. What personal data I collect and why I collect it
I collect personally identifiable information, such as your name and e-mail address. I may also collect anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your postcode, age, gender, preferences, interests and favourites.
There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by this site. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring Web site addresses. This information is used by me for the operation of the Membership website service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide me with general statistics regarding use of this website.
Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through the this website public message boards, this information may be collected and used by others. Note: I do not read any of your private online communications.

Use of your Personal Information
I collect and uses your personal information to operate the THA Membership program and website, and to deliver the products and services you have requested. I also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from the website. I may also contact you via emails and surveys to conduct research about your opinion of the THA Membership Program and related activities or potential new activities that may be offered.
I does not sell, rent or lease its Membership list to third parties. I may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of my partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (name and e-mail address) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, I may share data with trusted partners to help me perform statistical analysis, send you an email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to me, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
I do not use or disclose sensitive personal information without your explicit consent.
I keep track of the websites and pages that Members visit within the THA website in order to determine what Membership activities and services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customised content and advertising within the THA website.
I will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on me; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of THA Membership; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of THA Membership, or the public.
THA Membership website use “cookies” to help you personalise your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a webpage server. When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. User-submitted images may be transmitted to image compression servers in the United States and stored there for up to 30 days.
Security of your Personal Information
I secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. I secure the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
What data breach procedures I have in place
In the case of a personal data breach, I shall without undue delay and, where feasible, not later than 72 hours after having become aware of it, notify the personal data breach to the supervisory authority competent in accordance with Article 55, unless the personal data breach is unlikely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons. Where the notification to the supervisory authority is not made within 72 hours, it shall be accompanied by reasons for the delay.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

The Events Calendar
If you create, submit, import, save, or publish Event, Venue, or Organizer information, such information is retained in the local database:
- Venue information: name, address, city, country, state, postal code, phone, website, geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude)
- Organizer information: name, phone, website, email
- Event information: website, cost, description, date, time, image
Please note that to create new events through the Community Events submission form, a user must hold a website account on this domain. This information is retained in the local database. It is also possible to create events anonymously, if the site owner has this option enabled.
I make use of certain API keys, in order to provide specific features.
These API keys may include the following third party services: Google Maps, Facebook, Meetup, PayPal, and Eventbrite (API key, auth URL and Client Secret).
I collect information about you during the checkout process on our store. This information may include, but is not limited to, your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and any other details that might be requested from you for the purpose of processing your orders.
Handling this data also allows me to:
- Send you important account/order/service information.
- Respond to your queries, refund requests, or complaints.
- Process payments and to prevent fraudulent transactions. I do this on the basis of our legitimate business interests.
- Set up and administer your account, provide technical and/or customer support, and to verify your identity.
Additionally I may also collect the following information:
- Location and traffic data (including IP address and browser type) if you place an order, or if I need to estimate taxes and shipping costs based on your location.
- Product pages visited and content viewed while your session is active.
- Your comments and product reviews if you choose to leave them on our website.
- Account email/password to allow you to access your account, if you have one.
- If you choose to create an account with us, your name, address, and email address, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.
